Database Health Check

We take an independent picture of your database estate across performance, configuration, security, capacity, backup and high availability. The result: prioritised findings and a roadmap you can act on.

01Problems we solve

What organisations most often face in this area.

  • P.01

    Nobody knows the real state

Systems are running, but the risks they carry and how close they are to their limits have not been measured.

  • P.02

Handing over to a new team or partner

There is no reliable starting inventory or risk list for whoever takes over the estate.

  • P.03

Before an audit or investment decision

Hardware, licence or version decisions need an objective assessment of the environment.

  • P.04

    Recurring complaints

Users report slowness or outages; it is unclear which area should come first.

02Technical scope

Engineering depth.

Performance and configuration

  • Wait profile (Wait Statistics / pg_stat_*)
  • Most expensive queries and plan changes
  • Memory, parallelism and tempdb / autovacuum settings
  • Index usage and missing-index signals

Security and continuity

  • Permission and role distribution
  • Hardening and version status
  • Backup chain and restore evidence
  • High-availability and DR configuration

Capacity and operations

  • Data, log and disk growth trends
  • Maintenance plans and job history
  • Monitoring and alerting coverage
  • Documentation and operating procedures

03Sample output

What does a health check report look like?

The report has an executive summary, findings by area and prioritised recommendations. The summary page below only illustrates the format.

04Our approach

How we work.

  1. 01

    Scope and access

The instances in scope and the access required are agreed together. The assessment runs without changing production; most checks work with read and view permissions, while some configuration and security checks may need broader view permissions. The permissions required are listed explicitly with the scope.

  2. 02

    Data collection

Configuration, wait profiles, query statistics, backup history, permissions and capacity trends are collected.

  3. 03

    Analysis

Findings are assessed across six areas and classified by risk.

  4. 04

    Report and walkthrough

The executive summary, technical findings and prioritised roadmap are reviewed together.

05Value to the organisation

What changes for management.

Visible risk

The estate's risks are set out, prioritised, in language management can act on.

A practical roadmap

Every finding comes with a recommendation and a suggested priority; your team or ours can carry it out.

A basis for decisions

Capacity, version, licence or service-model decisions rest on measurement.
